Animals of the Prairie Field Trip

Check this out! Seats fill up fast!

Looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon? Why not spend it at the Red River Zoo for a fun-filled day learning about the prairie!

The Animals of the Prairie field trip will be held Sunday, October 14, 12:00-4:00 p.m., and is the perfect opportunity to explore the prairie with family and friends. There will be stories, prairie crafts, and “meet-and-greets” with prairie animals that live right here at the Red River Zoo. You can also take part in a hike at the Felton Prairie Scientific and Natural Area for a first-hand look at all prairies have to offer. This hike will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Don’t miss out on this great fall field trip! To download your registration form visit the link below:

White Faced Saki

This little guy is a White Faced Saki. In the wild, they can be found in the lower canopy of the South American Rain Forest.  When these monkeys are full grown, they can reach up to an average of 12-16″ tall. Their tails can measure out to be about the same length as their bodies. The average lifespan of a White Faced Saki is about 15 years.

Comet and Zeke will greet you as you walk into the entrance of the zoo. They live with Amaya the sloth and Rollo the armadillo. They are brothers and sometimes you can catch them playing or fighting in their exhibit.

Stop in at the Red River Zoo and say “hello” to these friendly brothers. They can’t wait to see you!

Meet the Authors

Hey guys, I’m Rachel! I’ve never made a blog before, but I’m super excited try it out. I’m a senior this year majoring in mass communications Integrated Advertising and Public Relations. My interests are design and layout, photography, event planning, but most of all I have a passion for writing. I also have a love for animals, so the zoo is a great fit for me. Well, that’s about it for now. Stick around and you’ll read more from me soon!

I’m Sam! I have been working at the Red River Zoo for last three summers and I have loved every second of it. I wish the entire community knew how great the zoo is. Hopefully, my mass communications and public relations background can help me get the public’s attention and spread my enthusiasm. I love writing and I love the zoo! I am so excited to be apart of the Red River Zoo’s Blog.  There is a lot to learn about so keep reading!
