Its Not Goodbye, Its See You Later.

(Sam, Anna, Rachel)

Our last blog together….

Hey guys! So as happy as I am that the semester is over and I’ll soon be out sledding, skiing, and doing anything, but homework. I am sad to say goodbye to this blog. Never before have I had a blog, and I have to say it was truly a fun experience. The Red River Zoo is a wonderful place, making blogging on behalf of it effortless. From this experience I might even start my own blog in the future, so look out!

Hey Guys,

It’s finals week and we are very stressed, but to be honest, I’m really sad this class is coming to a close. It was excited to come to class over time and share ideas with Anna and Rachel about what our next post would be about! I’m really going to miss this class and our great team! Thanks for supporting us and reading our blog! I love the Red River Zoo and I’m so happy I was able to share my knowledge with all of you. I started working at the zoo when I was a freshman, so it has been fun watching the zoo grow. The zoo has so many great things to offer. It’s a great place for families and the community to come together and learn about animals and conservation. I plan to keep writing and sharing about all the new things happening at the zoo.

I’m so proud of what we accomplished for the Red River Zoo as first-time bloggers. I learned so much about animal conservation and blogging, but lets’s be honest, I’m happy that the semester is coming to a close. I’m writing this with a very biitersweet taste in my mouth, but life is about change. I’ll miss getting together with Rachel and Sam every Monday and Wednesday, but we’ll still see each other. Sam wants to keep the blog going, so have no fear, you can still get your weekly updates and doses of the lovely Red River Zoo. I’ll give her a hand if she ever needs my picture-taking abilities, but its her baby now.  Farewell my Red River Zoo blog friends! Its not goodbye, its see you later.

Our Trip to the Zoo!

Our trip the Red River Zoo

As our semester draws to a close, our minds are flooded with thoughts of papers, tests, and final projects. The three of us decided what better way to take a break and clear our heads for an hour or two by taking a stroll through the Red River Zoo!

Our friends, the wolves, greeted us with a friendly howl and ran up to the fence to say hello. We noticed how thick their coats were as they prepare for another North Dakota Winter.

The goats were especially happy to see us as they stood up against their fence to get our attention. One of them even gave us a smile… it was unexpected, but had us laughing.

Baby Taji (who’s not so little anymore), was out climbing trees with his parents, but not feeling very photogenic. He had other things on his mind instead of posing for a picture, like following his mom around.

We ended our relaxing walk through the zoo with a send-off from the peacock as he stood on top of a fence and watched us leave. Farewell friends!

If you need a brief get-a-way from the stress of finals, we recommend you take a trip to the Red River Zoo too!

Jaws, Paws, and Santa Claus! (Review in Pictures)

Did anyone make it to the Christmas event, Jaws, Paws and Santa Clause? It was a hit! Kids and adults got to chill with Santa, take family photos, ride the carousel, and eat sandwiches from Erbert and Gerbert’s. Activities and arts and crafts filled the wolf cabin as the junior zoo keepers were there to take out the smaller education animals, like the snakes and rabbits. After the fun was over in the carousel pavilion, people gathered around the wolf cabin to watch Christmas-themed animal enrichment. Zoo visitors watched with awe as the wolves tore into gifts of meat. If you are disappointed that you missed out, don’t worry! The final Christmas event Jaws, Paws and Santa Clause 2012 will be this Saturday! Order tickets ahead online.
